BackMeUp is a team of highly skilled technical and business people based in Dublin, Ireland. In early 2007 a successful computer support company, SupportsIT, began looking for an online data backup partner that they could use to give their customers the best product, at the best value. However it became clear early on that current providers were either very expensive, appeared to lack technical experience or were frankly not trustworthy enough with customer data. Therefore in late 2007, SupportsIT decided to create a new company which fitted all of it's strict criteria for a good online backup company. BackMeUp is the outcome of this exercise. We have built a solid foundation for our technical infrastructure that is both reliable and scalable to the needs of our customers. We have a proven track record of delivery superb customer support and have hand picked the best team to deliver this. We are currently providing backup services to SMEs businesses through our brilliant army of resellers and affiliates. Our primary backup focus had, traditionally, always been on using tape systems. We have trained countless staff and business owners in the use of tape as a backup medium and through countless hard disk failures, hardware calamities and even a (baby created) 'toast in cd player' event, we have always been able to completely restore the data that we have managed. Contrary to the opinions of other data backup providers, tape is not the anti-christ of backup. It has worked for several decades and we have found that the only reason why tapes and tape systems fail, is that they have been improperly implemented, supported and managed. Online backup that has not been setup and tested correctly can be equally as troublesome. However the business case for online backup is slowly becoming greater and greater. - No more will our customers have to take tapes home

- No more will safes be needed to hold tapes securely
As a conservative adopter of technology, we were initially wary of online backup for our customers, however we have spent the last five years watching the technology mature and biding our time before entering the marketplace.
